Lake City in need of CAFFEINE

Although we do have our very own Starbucks, Lake City is in desperate need of coffee that doesn't taste and smell like Howard Schultz.  I'm a big fan of Diva Espresso. Diva Espresso sits just outside of the Lake City where Lake City Way meets 1-5 - but it's far from the bustling center of Lake City.

Bigfoot Car Wash hosts a Chicka Latte, a drive through coffee shop where it's Halloween every day.  Here baristas are given allowances to pick from a variety of pre-approved costumes including the ever popular sexy school girl uniform, the leotard firefighter uniform, and don't forget Sponge Bath Betty. I'm pretty sure men buy coffee here that they never intend to drink. Did I mention it was half a block south of Ricks?  Chicka Latte does support local vendors and sustainable farming which is nice. Flava, a funky bohemian coffee house, recently shut down. They held a retail space in the Solara apartments, next to what once was Mad Pizza.  With Flava and Mad Pizza both gone, there's plenty of empty retail space for entrepreneurs.

Victrola or Vita
Chicka Latte sounds horrible but I guess they have their niche. I think they could use a vita or victrola downtown on the main strip.

Vita or Victorola in to Cranium please
Anyone know someone would could pull some strings and make that happen. I still haven't figured out what they're doing with the old Cranium building.

I'm having some trouble with the spam catcher for comments. So, my apologies if your comment didn't show up for a day or two.

As far as Chicka Latte's coffee - I've only been there once and I have no recollection of how the coffee tasted.

Thanks again for all your comments.

Fred Meyer Coffee Cart
I like the coffee cart at FM -- the people are NICE, coffee is good, and I'm shopping at FM any way, so its convenient too.

cranium
I think the building Cranium used to be in is painted white a while ago... So I was really looking forward to see new cafe opening there, but haven't seen any change since then...

It would be nice to see more independent cafe in Lakecity... OR Capcake royal would be nice... :) We don't need any more starbucks...

Cranium owned by Bill Pierre...
The rumor is, from a commenter on the previous Cranium post, that Bill Pierre owns Cranium. It seemed too good to be true that someone was remodeling to put in coffee shop.

I guess I should give the coffee cart a chance - I never think to go there.

coffee shops
You are exactly right! I would love to see any of the above (cupcake royale, vita, victrola, or any indy coffee shop) right in downtown Lake City - we are woefully in need!

it's a shame
I hate the fact that Starbucks is the only local coffee shop to go to. Drive thru places don't count. I want a place where I can go and study, read, hangout, work, with free wifi like the rest of the city (except starbucks). There is so much potential for the Lake City Way/125th area

Boy are you a pompous ass
See Above. You jerkoffs should be happy that Starbucks was brave enough to come to your crappy little corner of the city.

Dear Good Grief
We are happy we have Starbucks. It would be nice, however, to have a bit of variety in the area. I guess you don't live in our crappy little corner of the city?
