The Lake City School building opened in 1930 to provide additional space for Lake City students that were over crowding the original Lake City School building (demolished to build the current Lake City Library). My Grandma, who went to Maple Leaf school, remembers playing volleyball and softball at the Lake City School in the 1940's. Years later my Mom, aunts and uncles went to kindergarten at this school
Today it is the Lake City Professional Building. It's currently in the running for landmark status in Lake City. Is it worthy of historic landmark status?
If you have strong feelings about this building, verbal statements will be accepted at the review meeting this Friday May 1st. The meeting starts at 8 am but get there by 10 am for the Lake City School discussion.
