Although crime and shootings are nothing new in Lake City, it is rare that 2 incidents happen in the same block in one week.
Last night there was a suicide shooting at NE 137th and 30th. In general it's not PC to publicize suicides in order to avoid copycats. But, when there's a shooting next door, it's reassuring to know the truth about what happened.
Thanks to Casey McNerthney from the Pi for the full story and the phone number for the 24-hour suicide crisis clinic hot line (1-866-4CRISIS).
Less than a week ago, on the same block, a man was arrested for beating his landlord. Sean Kelley, a 22 year old with a juvenile criminal history, allegedly attacked the landlord after he was asked to turn down his music. The landlord was taken to Northwest Hospital with extensive facial damage and visual impairment. Sean Kelley was released on Monday after he posted his bail of $10,000. Casey McNerthney has the full story here.
