Gotta love the Times' Ron Judd pointing out what I've been noticing (and thinking) since the 520 tolls began:
Ding-dong drivers scrambling to avoid toll really take the cake"As has been well established here over the years, we hate to be pushy. But somebody has to say it.
Just a small suggestion to all you local drivers who, feeling an urge to get from the Eastside to downtown or vice versa, make the...
Up here in LC we've been getting a healthy amount of snow today. Are folks enjoying it? Share your wintry pix!
I found Elliott Bay's Facebook page today https://www.facebook.com/elliottbaybrew and saw they have a few new pics of work on the LC location, including a fresh paint job done today out back (which will be the main entrance). I asked when they'd be open and they said "Late Feb. at earliest"...

Hello all! I am a part of a new nonprofit in the Northern Seattle Area called the Emerald Spirit Community Action. We are a sustainability group that got started up here to help make our community a better place to live, both for us and the environment. We just kicked off a new project that we hope people up here will be interested in called the Patio Green Thumb Project. Essentially, people who live in apartments and condos who have a bit of windowsill or patio space are eligible to receive a free patio food container garden tailored to their needs. We will be offering different gardens based on funding (we are actively fundraising...
Tomorrow, Wednesday December 14th, Mayor McGinn is making an in person donation to North Helpline. He hopes to encourage Seattleites to give back to their communities in this holiday season. In 2011 North Helpline served over 850 households. They, and many other local food banks, are struggling to keep up with the demand. In the past 2 years they've seen demand for services double. While demand continues to rise, donations have dropped by 30%.
In this season of giving, please don't forget those that...

Just dreaming, but wouldn't it be cool if LC area became a northern hub for more flea markets? (Like in Georgetown - check it out: http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/voracious/2010/06/a_farmers_m ) I hear Bill Pierre has some properties he needs to do something interesting with! Or, what about the old fire station? Flea shopping, then lunch at Elliot Bay, perhaps? Sounds like...

Here's the very first Lake City Live post:
Let's start with the basics...what is Lake City? Lake City...

We are a group of neighbors speaking out to keep Lake City safe, successful, and family-friendly. We are not seasoned activists - we were compelled to get involved because of the way the City of Seattle is handling the future of the old Lake City firehouse (formerly Station #39). We believe...

Tonight Ricks reopened under a new name, Dream Girls at Ricks, and under new ownership. The last few years have been a bit bumpy for Rick's. According to the PI they hope to attract the most "beautiful girls" in town and provide guests with "a top-notch Adult Cabaret experience". I don't know many people in the neighborhood excited about them reopening. We can only hope they will run a cleaner business than Rick's. Rick's just isn't my scene. The building was more interesting to me back in July when it was surrounded by fire fighters. For a minute I thought they were finally on to something I could get on board with....
The old Station 39 location has been a hot topic ever since Nickelsville vacated. At a community meeting back in July residents and business owners alike took a stand against a homeless shelter moving into Station 39 for fear that it would only add to the problems this neighborhood faces.
This week the city announced a temporary winter shelter, sponsored by Union Gospel Mission, will open at Station 39 on Thanksgiving. This was an unexpected turn of events and many people will be upset about this decision. ...
