This Saturday the Shanty Tavern is hosting a Tribute to Johnny Cash. San Francisco band Sick Wolf will be rocking with Johnny Mercury. If you've never been to the Shanty Saturday's your chance! (9002 Lake City Way NE Seattle 98115) Before you head the Shanty stop by The Beer Authority (12716 Lake City Way Northeast 98125) to support Team in Training. Each month The Beer Authority is holding a fund raiser for a different non profit. So buy a pint of Elysian Immortal IPA this Saturday and all the proceeds will go to fight blood cancers (Leukemia, Lymphoma...). This from Barry:
Lake City - Pinehurst Stop by The Beer Authority (12716 Lake City Way Seattle 98125) for Super Bowl. They're serving up chili all day long. Don't like chili, Barry will have local takeout menus available to for you to order some grub. If you haven't had a drink at the Beer Authority this is the perfect time to check it out. The Rimrock's (12322 Lake City Way Seattle 98125) is my favorite place to drink when I want to forget what time it is and waste the day away. You're bound to find people drinking at this bar anytime of the day. Bored with...
This Saturday at the Beer Authority, owner Barry Adams is pouring $5.50 pints or $20 growlers of Victory's Prima Pils. If we drink the entire keg we'll raise over 600 dollars for Haiti Relief. So stop in any time from noon to 9pm and do your part. Don't feel like drinking, donations will also be accepted. Can't make it this Saturday? No worries. You'll have another chance to drink for a good cause. This Saturday kicks off the Beer Authority's 12 Months of Giving. One Saturday every month will be dedicated to fund raising for a specific charity. Each event will be all day (noon to 9pm) on one Saturday per month. We will provide a full keg and sell pints/growlers for $6-7 with all the proceeds going to the charity/organization. The Beer Athority on Lake City Way at 12716 Lake City Way NE | Seattle | WA | 98125 Search no further, the Beer Authority is now pouring draft beers on site and growlers to go. If you're a beer fan and haven't been in to the Beer Authority, you're missing out. Owner Barry knows more about beer than I know about my own parents. So stop in and enjoy a draft beer on site and if you like, take a growler home with you. The Beer Authority is located on Lake City Way at 12716 Lake City Way NE | Seattle | WA | 98125 On Draft Now: Up Next: Thursday, August 27th from 5-7pm at the Beer Authority. Erik Carels from Snoqualmie Falls brewery will be here to taste and talk about his company's beers - the Wildcat IPA, Steam Train Porter, and Haystack Hefeweizen. No fee for this tasting either.. The rumors are true - Ezell's Famous Fried Chicken is now open. We may not be one of Seattle's neighborhoods that boasts a Molly's Moons or cupcake shop but Lake City is now the envy of every neighborhood in Seattle (other than the Central District which already has an Ezell's). Near the corner of 145th and Lake City Way, Ezell's shares a parking lot with Starbucks. Their current hours are Monday -Saturday 10am - 9pm and Sunday 11am - 8pm And so we say to our Seattle neighbors, keep your cupcakes, we don't want them. But feel free to stop by and have some of our fried chicken. This Thursday, August 13th from 5-7pm, at the Beer Authority. We're having Mike Armstrong from Skagit River Brewing in to taste the Skagit River brews we normally carry plus a mystery beer that is not available in bottles! Beers being tasted will include the Skullers IPA, Trumpeter Stout, Jenny's Scotch, and Steelie Brown. As for the special beer, people will have to show up to find out... No fee! Join us for our 5th annual Incredible Feast! Tired of making the trek the grocery store? Want to shop for groceries in the comfort of your own home? Now you can. AmazonFresh recently added 98125 to the list. Orders over $75 include free delivery - otherwise it will cost you $5, unless you're a Big Radish. Same day orders are avaliable for many items. I enjoy walking to the grocery store and wandering the aisle but this might be a good way to stock up bulk items. Hudson Public House is now open! The owners of Pioneer Square's Collin's Pub is now in Lake City (or a little south of Lake City if we're getting technical). It's a great classy addition to the neighborhood. Coopers it great for nachos, darts, and a beer but if you're looking for something with a little more class, Hudson is just across the street. They offer a full bar and dinner menu. I've been in for a drink but I haven't had a chance to try their food yet. For more thoughts on the menu, check out these Yelp reviews. This Saturday, after doing some clean up at Little Brook, head over to The Beer Authority for their Grand Opening. Both Saturday (12-6) and Sunday (12-5) stop in for discounted beer, wine, food pairings, tastings and free beer gear. This from Barry Here's what's going on:
Saturday, April 18 schedule: That's right, The Rose Garden is for sale. Rather than fighting the city for a liquor license, the owners (including one former DEA agent) decided to sell. The SLOG writes about it here. Here's the listing "Available immediately. Ideal for restaurant or retail. 73 feet of frontage along busy Lake City Way. Seller financing with substantial down. Currently vacant. Used to be the Rose Garden Lounge, but the city will not grant a liquor license. High visibility. Ideal for restaurant or retail. Sellers will consider financing strong buyer" The economy may be in shambles, but 400,000K sounds like a steal. The Rose Garden may be leaving us, but Romios is back! For the past month I've been watching the transformation of Bakers. I was still shocked this weekend when I walked by and saw happy people eating pizza inside. Has any one been yet? I hope Lake City is big enough for two pizza places - Pizza Uno we need you too! Could it be true? Is the Rose Garden really gone? A comment on this Stranger article motivated me to walk by the The Rose Garden to investigate. Sure enough, I found two 8 1/2 by 11 signs with the word "closed" in caps. I've been trying to find out the story behind their sudden closure but haven't come across anything yet. The SPD recently requested a denial of their liquor license - this process was expected to take months. Although this will be a great thing for the neighborhood, I am a little disappointed that I never got to try one of their infamous TV dinners. Check out Native's review of the most rockin' deal in Lake City at the Rimrock Steakhouse Have you been to Square Meal on 15th accross from Safeway? Out of curiosity, I stopped in the other day. The place offers a strange assortment of food from curried chicken to stewed beef. The food was tasty, a little like going to Grandma's for dinner. It filled my belly but wasn't anything fancy. What did you think? Seattle Weekly blogger says this: If this place were downtown Seattle, it would be gangbusters, but $7.99 would be $12. OK, so maybe the concept would fail to prove worth it. Walk in to the Pinehurst "not a restaurant" Square Meal (12339 15 Ave. NE, across from Safeway) and face a steam table with over a dozen entrees and sides, always including beef stew and BBQ pork. The coconut curry chicken was an ample portion and at least as good as what I used to get from Curry King in Georgetown, and it came with (my choices) a homey lentil soup and a cumin-spiced garbanzo bean salad. This week the Washington Beer Blog featured The Beer Authority on their website. I finally stopped in The Beer Authority on Saturday. Barry said he was still working on signage and night time visibility. If you haven't been in yet, stop by during tasting hours, Saturday or Monday through Friday between 4:30 and 7:30, for the chance to sample the beer of the day. You can find more info at their website or on facebook (including their inventory list). Barry's open to suggestions. If you have a favorite that they don't have, just ask. The Beer Authority opened this week! Stop by and check out their 572 cubic feet of refrigeration stock full of tasty beverages. They are open Monday - Friday 11-8, Saturday 12-6, Sunday 12-5. Check out their snazzy new website with a complete list of their inventory. If you stop by during tasting hours, Saturday or Monday through Friday between 4:30 and 7:30, for the chance to sample their wares. The Beer Authority - 12716 Lake City Way NE 98125 My hubs went by The Beer Authority (12716 Lake City Way NE, www.seattlebeerauthority.com) last night to get some Irish brew to go with our colcannon supper. He came back quite geeked after chatting up the owner, Barry, and picking up some Beamish. Sounds like the place is well-stocked and organized, and more than ready to serve the neighborhood beer quaffers. (Wine lovers, too.) Fun facts about beer (per Wikipedia, www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer): "Beer is the world's oldest and most widely consumed alcoholic beverage and the third most popular drink overall after water and tea." Drink up! This bit of news -- I was just tooling around town this afternoon and saw a banner up for a new Romio's on Lake City Way. I looked online and saw that Everyblock had reported that Romio's had applied for a new liquor license on Nov. 4, 2008 for a site at 12534 Lake City Way NE. Didn't have time to stop so I don't know any more details... The owners of Collins Pub in Pioneer Square recently announced to the public that they would be opening a new pub on Lake City Way and 15th. What was formerly Annita's Bistro will soon be transformed into Hudson Public House. Although it will neighbor Coopers, I'm holding out hope for an amazing menu (something Coopers lacks). I'm excited to welcome The Beer Authority to Lake City! They will be opening soon on Lake City in what was once Flava. Solara Apartments (127th and Lake City Way) has had some trouble keeping its retail space occupied. Within the last year, Mad Pizza and Flava both vacated. The Beer Authority is the brain child of Barry and his wife - the former owners of lower Queen Anne bar Jabu. They hope to open at the end of the month pending liquor license approval. The next time you're walking down Lake City Way, look for The Beer Authority's store front and remember their motto "You've been good, have a beer!" Here's another great review from Native. I think they've changed hands since this 05 article in the PI. Urbanspoon and Native both give this place 2 thumbs up. It's on my list of places to visit this weekend. Check out Native's review of Thai One On. Whether you're in the mood for take out, delivery, or dining in - Thai One On is sure to keep you coming back for more. Although we do have our very own Starbucks, Lake City is in desperate need of coffee that doesn't taste and smell like Howard Schultz. I'm a big fan of Diva Espresso. Diva Espresso sits just outside of the Lake City where Lake City Way meets 1-5 - but it's far from the bustling center of Lake City. Bigfoot Car Wash hosts a Chicka Latte, a drive through coffee shop where it's Halloween every day. Here baristas are given allowances to pick from a variety of pre-approved costumes including the ever popular sexy school girl uniform, the leotard firefighter uniform, and don't forget Sponge Bath Betty. I'm pretty sure men buy coffee here that they never intend to drink. Did I mention it was half a block south of Ricks? Chicka Latte does support local vendors and sustainable farming which is nice. Flava, a funky bohemian coffee house, recently shut down. They held a retail space in the Solara apartments, next to what once was Mad Pizza. With Flava and Mad Pizza both gone, there's plenty of empty retail space for... |
